‘It Don’t Get Better Than Me’: Henri B. Styles Latest Dreamy Single “Last Time”
This past September, artist Henri B. Styles dropped her single Last Time, her latest release since sophomore album Phases.
Last Time is a slow melodic song about rekindling an old lover, with Henri repeating in the chorus “It don't get better than this. It don’t get better than me.” Henri's sound is perfect on top of the beat, with her calming yet soul 90s style voice.
When NUNAR caught up to ask Henri how she feels after dropping the song, she said “It hasn’t really all hit me yet. I think I am going to take today to bask in it, but I am always like ‘Okay what is next?’”
The single is accompanied by dope cover art and visuals, where Henri is in the back of a white drop-top clothed in a baby blue color schemed outfit and killer white thigh-high boots. She stares right at the camera and gives an effortless soft look while engulfed in the vintage polaroid film-like quality. The song is very much a vibe and relatable in this day and age. Should I double back on an old lover?
Last year during the summer, Henri had just recorded her album Phases and was ready for something new. “I was recording a bunch of demos and came across this beat. It reminded me of L.A. This entire song was a freestyle though. I changed maybe one line.”
When finding inspiration, Henri instantly thought of a Kendrick Lamar lyric from his 2012 song The Recipe, “Women Weed and Weather,” and says she went from there.
Last Time is the perfect song to add to your “End of the Summer” playlist as we get the last of those L.A. vibes.
