Melan’s Alt-Bop “Lime Green Feeling” Is The COVID-Age Trip We Deserve
DC-based alternative R&B artist Melan just released the music video to her late August single “Lime Green Feeling” and it’s a D.C. summer dream.
In a Instagram post, the artist says the song was “inspired by that feeling of driving through a forest of naturally neon-hued leaves.” The track, produced by Chnx (@chnxbeats), inspires an air of a nostalgia for summers past while reminding us of the sacred, precious nature of trees, greenery, and a health-giving natural world. “This beat reminded me of Tokyo Drift and DC summer bike life... all together the song is just an embodiment of sacred futurism.”
Her art might spring a tap into your connection to Gaia, a spiritual, holistic belief about Earth that is central to Melan’s artistic stance. “Lime Green Feeling is all about the power of nature as a form of medicine,” Melan tells us. The song also speaks to a time when things were much simpler–a desire to live a life full of unburdened travel and oneness with the outdoors like the elementary days. “Inspired by the COVID age, it’s an upbeat yet mellow summer anthem that captures the feeling of yearning to feel free and one with the world again.”
Lime Green Feeling’s viewing experience, as shot and directed by Marlow of THISISMARLOWfilms, takes you on a summer retreat to the woods with Melan’s crew. Scenes of Melan hopping in a Tesla, joy riding with her friends, opting for the windows down and the top off offers that the journey itself is part of any memorable summer experience.
As summer warmth continues to extend father into fall and winter months, few leaves may be on the trees. But there still might be time to catch a lime green feeling, in a drop top with your crew.
