Coming out of PG County, a.k.a Pretty Girl County, this week we’re listening to certified hot girl Shay Pastel (@shaypastel), previously known as Luna, and her new single, “Siddity Bounce.” The video for the song, released today, marks her fourth single released as Shay Pastel.

The track, produced by No Charley (@nocharley), opens by setting a mood with soothing, ambient tones befitting for a decompressing smoke session before the beat drops and the night begins. In 3-minutes, the song channels a sensual, lo-fi-like energy perfect for late-night shenanigans and the free ‘n’ easy lifestyle. You get a feel for late-night hits at the club, on the joint, and with the girls. Once the beat drops, bouncing that a** is in favor.

For Shay, this song embodies not a side of her but her waking essence and the feeling of being alive. “[E]verything I make is a product of how I'm living and feeling in that moment. Defining my music in that way is so important because it allows me to express myself authentically. I can create because my ex pissed me off, or I can create because I feel like I'm channeling messages, but either way, you're going to feel it because I honored my creative spirit,” Shay tells NUNAR.

As for the creative process of “Siddity Bounce”, Shay describes a creative rush late in the night inspiring her to record. “This song, for example, and many others I made with No Charley were a product of me rolling with a rush of creativity at 1 in the morning. I had this energy that was telling me I had something to say, and I called Charley up and we recorded until like 8 a.m. on a weekday lol. I had to roll off the studio futon straight to my day job... but that's the lifestyle!”

Siddity Bounce, in Shay’s words, represents “owning your own individual allure. This world tries to impose so many standards and boxes on the beings living in it and we spend our whole life trying to heal from those impositions. This song is me owning my power and still having fun with it!”
