Lindsay Hailes, known artistically as HAILES, is a free-spirited, ambitious, and very determined individual. The 26-year-old is big on her work ethic and lets her dreams and inspirations lead her along the way. She has a primary passion for music yet continues to push the limits into acting as well. She currently tours with the eight-time Tony Award-winning Broadway show Hadestown, which has a Tony for Best Musical. On this journey, HAILES continues to sharpen her skills in all areas. 

HAILES' creative and musical mindset stems from her roots, growing up not too far from Kansas City. “I feel like Kansas City's music scene is very jazz-based,” says HAILES. Her parents always listened to jazz and that directly influenced HAILES musical tastes and perspective.

HAILES’ has released several singles so far and has already generated over 130k streams with her latest track “Fruitless Love” leading the way. The mellow track takes you through a solemnly sweet telling of heartbreak where HAILES’ vocals carries beautifully and genuine. We also love the bop “Not Perfect”; with its singable quality and vulnerable lyricism it has already become a TikTok sensation, showing audiences that her tracks carry coveted replay value.

HAILES pulls from many inspirations including artists such as Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Dave Matthews Band, and particularly the Neo-Soul genre. “When I knew I wanted to make music, I was listening to a lot of Badu, watching her live performances videos,” says HAILES. She fell in love with the music, realizing how live performances can impact her audience. 

HAILES is continuing to expand her talents by taking on musical theater. This talented thespian is currently on tour as part of the company of Broadway’s Hadestown, a Tony and Grammy award-winning musical. “I love acting and dancing and being able to do that. I feel like it makes my writing stronger and makes my performing better,” says HAILES.

Hadestown was recently performing in Washington D.C, where HAILES was able to take action on stage in a region she loves.  “A lot of my family’s from Rockville, Maryland, so I grew up like coming into the city a lot and the energy is just unmatched.” 

From touring with a top-rated Broadway show to pushing her melodic vibes into the music industry, HAILES has the range and versatility to go far. EGOT behavior? Time will tell, but everything comes back to where it all began and that is her love for music. As she is preparing to release an EP, she tells NUNAR that she has plenty of songs stashed away when the time presents itself.

At such a young age, she has already accomplished more than she could ever imagine. As we step further into the new year, we are certainly watching HAILES for what she’ll do next.
